Sleep MaskPrivacy Policy
Sleep Mask runs entirely on your device. It listens to your room to adapt the noise it plays, and that audio is analyzed in real time and never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. It makes no network connections at all.
Who we are
Sleep Mask is built and operated by Cool-S Technologies, the independent software studio of Cameron Severn. This policy explains what information Sleep Mask handles, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email cameron@cool-s.com.
Information processed on your device
- Microphone audio (processed on-device, in real time). While Adaptive Masking is enabled, the app continuously analyzes a short rolling window of room audio on your device four times per second to shape the noise it plays. The audio is held only momentarily in memory for that analysis and is then discarded. It is never recorded, saved, or transmitted.
- App settings and preferences. To remember your noise color, volume, and adaptive settings. Stored only on your device, with no account and no cloud sync.
Device permissions
- Microphone. Requested only when you turn on Adaptive Masking, so the app can hear the room and adapt. Audio is processed locally and never leaves your device. Masking works without it too, so you can run Sleep Mask with the microphone off.
How the app uses on-device information
Sleep Mask uses microphone audio only to adapt the synthesized noise in real time, and uses locally stored settings only to restore your preferences. It does not use this information for accounts, analytics, advertising, diagnostics, profiling, or any other purpose.
Sleep Mask works entirely offline
Sleep Mask makes no network connections. There are no accounts, no analytics, no crash-reporting services, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. The only things the app uses are the system permission prompt and on-device storage for your settings. Nothing you do in the app is sent anywhere.
Your microphone audio never leaves your device
Sleep Mask's adaptive masking works by analyzing the room's sound as it happens and immediately shaping the noise it plays in response. Each short microphone sample is held only momentarily in memory for that analysis and is then discarded. It is never written to storage, never uploaded, and never shared with anyone.
Data retention
Your preferences live on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app. Microphone audio is never retained.
Your rights and choices
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing cameron@cool-s.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA. We honor those requests regardless of where you live.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and limit access to it.
Children
Sleep Mask is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Sleep Maskevolves. When we do, we'll revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
